GARY J. TOMAN focuses primarily on trial and appellate practice. Mr. Toman has extensive experience in representing large companies as well as smaller businesses, professionals and individuals in complex litigation matters, business disputes, consumer class actions and catastrophic personal injury cases. Mr. Toman handles business disputes involving closely-held businesses, non-competition agreements, real estate and intellectual property matters among others. He has a significant practice in cases involving fraud and misrepresentation, both in insurance and banking matters. He has also handled cases and counseled clients in the healthcare field regarding antitrust issues, practice disputes, employment law matters and other business disputes. In addition to his trial practice, Mr. Toman has also handled numerous arbitration matters and cases in appellate courts throughout the country.
Mr. Toman has been selected as a 2007 “Super Lawyer” by Atlanta Magazine based on a survey of Georgia lawyers. He has also served on the Judicial Selection Committee of the Atlanta Bar Association.
Mr. Toman graduated in 1978 cum laude from Harvard College. He was a recipient of a Harvard College Scholarship for academic achievement in the highest academic group and an Institute of Politics Public Sector Fellowship. He graduated in 1981 cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was a member of the Board of Student Advisers.
Mr. Toman served as a law clerk to the Honorable R. Lanier Anderson, III, of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Prior to joining the firm, he was an associate at King & Spalding and a partner at Kilpatrick & Cody
Mr. Toman and his wife Charlene have two children.
